We’re thrilled to announce the official launch of Fing Desktop 4.0 — the biggest update to our desktop app yet. It’s a complete rewrite, not just a simple redesign: it brings a modern UI aligned to the Web App, together with a stronger and more secure foundation for faster future updates.

Please note: Fing Desktop 4.0 will be rolled out gradually to existing users over the coming weeks. This means you may not see the update available right away, but don’t worry, it’s on its way. We’ve chosen a phased rollout to ensure a smooth transition and to quickly address any issues that may arise.
What’s new with Fing Desktop 4.0
A Brand-New Interface
The first thing you’ll notice when you open Fing Desktop 4.0 is that it looks completely different. We’ve rebuilt the entire interface from the ground up to align with the modern look and feel of the Fing Web App. If you’ve used the web version before, you’ll feel right at home immediately.
The goal was simple: create a single, unified experience across platforms. No more jumping between tools that look and behave differently. Whether you’re working in a browser or on the desktop, Fing now feels like one cohesive product. The new design is cleaner, more spacious, and puts the information you need front and center — without the clutter.
Easier Navigation
Getting around the app is now smoother than ever. We’ve introduced a proper navigation bar at the top of the window, complete with forward and back arrows. It works just like you’d expect in a browser: click through different views, then retrace your steps effortlessly.
It’s a small change on paper, but in daily use it makes the experience feel significantly more fluid and natural.
Dark Mode
Yes, it’s finally here. Dark Mode has been one of the most requested features, and we’re happy to deliver. Switch to a darker palette to reduce eye strain during those late-night troubleshooting sessions, or simply because it looks great.
Whatever your preference, Fing Desktop 4.0 now lets you choose the visual experience that works best for you.
Redesigned Tools
Some of your most-used tools have received a complete visual overhaul. Speed Test, DNS Benchmark, and Ping have all been redesigned to offer a clearer, more polished, and more informative experience. Also, we moved the Health Check from the Home to the Tools tab.
The underlying functionality you rely on is still there — we’ve just made it easier to read, easier to use, and nicer to look at. Expect cleaner layouts, better data visualization, and a more consistent feel across every tool in the app.
Improved Performance
It’s not just about looks. Under the hood, we’ve made significant performance improvements across the board.
The app launches faster, responds more quickly to your inputs, and runs more efficiently in the background. We’ve optimized resource usage so that Fing Desktop stays lightweight on your system, even during intensive scans or tests. The result is an app that not only looks better, but genuinely feels better to use.
A Dramatically Lighter Package
Here’s a number we’re particularly proud of: the Fing Desktop installer has gone from roughly 300 MB down to just ~50 MB. That’s an 80%+ reduction in file size.
Whether you’re downloading it for the first time or updating from a previous version, the process is now significantly faster and takes up far less disk space. We’ve worked hard to strip away bloat while keeping everything you need — and we think the result speaks for itself.
Important for Mac users: Fing Desktop 4.0 is now built natively for Apple Silicon, delivering better performance and efficiency on modern Macs. As part of this transition, support for Intel-based (x86) Macs has been discontinued. If you’re running an older Intel Mac, you can continue using your current version of Fing Desktop, but version 4.0 and future updates will require an Apple Silicon device
