On your first day with Fingbox after you’ve configured the device you’ll start by completing a few key actions. See what’s on your network: Fingbox will provide a full inventory of active devices on your network Set up users and assign personal devices: To monitor digital presence and who is at home, you’ll need to create users for the people in your home and assign personal devices for each user (mobile phones, tablet, laptops). Turn on alerts & identify new devices: Turning on Fing alerts on specific devices is essential to having an always-on Fing experience. Check your Internet & WiFi speeds: You’ll need to run your first internet and WiFi speed tests to get a benchmark for the internet performance in your home.
Fingbox finds suspected weak points so you can keep your connection secure. The Vulnerability Test is a combination of a router audit and a remote scan test. The Network Vulnerability Test automatically runs weekly but you can also perform and on-demand scan. The test is made up of two parts: The Remote Scan Test performs a port scan on your public Internet address (the individual numerical address visible to the public when you are online) to see which ports are open to the external world: these are the open doors into your home, and you should make sure to have only the strictly necessary ones open. The Internal Router Audit checks the router addresses, the NAT configuration and whether or not UPnP or NAT-PMP is activated. In the house metaphor, this would be the equivalent of checking the security measures placed inside the building in case an intruder did make it through the door. Learn more

Depending on your preference, LEDs can be dimmed or turned off, if there are no alerts. Learn more about what each LED signal means in the lighting guide
No, Fingbox only monitors the bandwidth consumption of devices on demand. You must select the devices you want to analyze and run the test to get the bandwidth consumption of each device. We designed Fingbox this way so it would not slow down your network, by constantly re-routing all your network traffic through the device to count packets.
The majority of Fingbox features work as intended on IPv6 including Digital Presence monitoring, intruder and hacker alerts, vulnerability and threat detection, network and device alerts, Wi-Fi speed tests, ISP Ranking and DigitalFence will work as intended on IPV6. Most routers use both IPv4 and IPv6 and by default IPv6 is disabled. Fingbox device blocking and bandwidth analysis features will not work unless IPv6 is disabled on your router.
Fingbox bandwidth analysis lets you analyze the bandwidth consumption of any device on demand. Choose the devices which you believe are the bandwidth hogging culprits from your list of devices. Launch the feature and you’ll be able to see the real-time bandwidth consumption of the devices you self selected.
